Lewisville+ MacKid Crafty Kids: Mail a Hug

Super fun and easy mom approved craft

By M. Rausch July 5, 2021

You can Mail a Hug to your family far away. Show them you love them and are thinking of them by sharing this amazing craft, made by your child.

Handprint crafts are memories of our kid’s tiny hands, just as they were in that moment in time, that’s why they make great crafty gifts!

How to Mail a Hug

You will need:

  • one sheet of felt or paper
  • Ribbon or string
  • scissors
  • hot glue

We make these out of felt, but you can use paper and string.

Directions:

  1. Place your sheet of felt on a flat surface, folded in half.  Lay your kiddos hands on the felt and trace them carefully.
  2. Keep the sheet folded, cut around the traced shape of your kid’s hand so that you end up with four handprints all together, two for each hand.
  3. Take the ribbon and measure the length of your kiddos’ wingspan – from wrist to wrist across the body.
  4. Glue the ribbon to the inside of one set of handprints and then glue the other handprint on top to seal it.
  5. Repeat for the other hand.

Optional: You can also label the hands with the date and your kiddos name, use a permanent pen.
