Flower Mound+ MacKid GoodEats: How To Make Fresh Peach Fruit Leather

This easy recipe is a kid favorite! And you only need 2 Ingredients!

By Jenn Grubb, publisher of Macaroni KID Colorado Springs, Colo. August 19, 2022

I LOVE peaches. I actually make the nearly five-hour drive from my home in Colorado Springs to Palisade, Colo., each year to buy their famous peaches. I love to can them so I can create yummy recipes year-round.

August is National Peach Month so I wanted to share one of my go-to peach recipes so you can make the most of your local peaches. This homemade peach fruit leather doesn't require a food dehydrator and makes a great sweet addition to the school lunchbox.

Homemade Peaches Fruit Leather

Homemade fruit leather is so easy to make and is a great healthy snack for kids. I used peaches for this recipe, but you can also use your favorite fruit. Strawberries and raspberries are my other favorite fruits to use.

This recipe makes about 10 fruit leather rolls and will keep up to a month in an air-tight container — though they probably won't last that long!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups peaches
  • Sweetener to taste (I use honey or maple syrup)

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 150 degrees F (or the lowest temperature your oven will go). Line an 11x17 baking sheet with a baking mat or parchment paper.
  • Puree the peaches and sweetener in a blender or food processor until smooth. Pour fruit mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread to about 1/8 inch thick. I always tap the baking sheet on the counter a few times to make sure the fruit mixture is evenly distributed.
  • Place baking sheet in the oven and bake for 6-8 hours, until the center is not tacky. If your oven doesn't go as low, be sure to watch the progress closely. Remove from oven and let cool to room temperature. Gently peel the fruit leather from the baking mat or parchment paper.
  • Cut into squares or strips. You can use a pizza cutter, knife, or scissors. If you want to make fruit rolls, roll the strips in parchment paper! Store in an air-tight container.

Strawberries and raspberries also make great fruit leather!

Enjoy all the fresh peachy goodness this season!
